Why a Kitchen Garden?

There is a government program about the kitchen garden or backyard garden.

Do you know why the government took this initiative?

The government has a good reason. First, the nation needs to be self-sufficient, and this is one way of ensuring this.

No space should be left to waste! Secondly, we need to know how to grow “clean” food. When you grow your own food, you will be sure to ensure you have followed all the health standards. You are keen to use the right chemicals, at the right time, and for the right reasons. In most cases, you’ll go organic which is even more beneficial.

How a Kitchen Garden can Help

You can make some money from your backyard ventures, in additional to eating healthy and nutritious food.

In the same spirit, you might need to have a few animals growing within the backyard. Or where do you get the manure to grow fertilize your farm? If you stick to inorganic fertilizers, you won’t be able to gain much from your farm in the long run. Inorganic fertilizers will literally “poison” your soil!

So, you might need a few chickens, a goat, ducks or turkeys. I would recommed #rabbits. They are quiet animals, they grow fast, their meat has high protein contents, and low fats. The animals, also, do not require much space. They are friendly to you and your kids. They do not demand a lot of labor, and reproduce almost faster than any other animal grown in the farm! Importantly, they give you a lot of manure to add to your soil for a sustainable kitchen garden.

You should try this at your home. At #Affluentfarmers, we give you advice on how to start these projects. They are very good ventures that are not demanding in terms of cash, space, or even labor.

We hope you’ll give it a try.
